The story of the designer behind Adada
For as long as she can remember, Marie-Eve’s dream has been to CREATE! When she was eight years old, she sewed her first dress with the help of her grandmother.
Although her career aptitude test pointed to the occupation of tattoo artist, Marie-Eve chose to wield needles in a different manner by choosing the world of theatre production. While studying theatre at Cégep Lionel-Groulx, she earned the nickname “Dada.”
This jane-of-all-trades later worked on a variety of projects, including art exhibits, garment making, set design and costume design. While Marie-Eve was completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University, fate led her to the Cirque du Soleil. She began her career there as a seamstress before moving into a coordinator position, and later, into project management. But right in the middle of a new production, the Covid-19 pandemic hit!
During her ensuing forced break from the Cirque, Marie-Eve, armed with her wealth of knowledge and experience as a project manager, sought a new endeavour to sink her teeth into. The “young” mother, who has always loved children, began to reflect on the idea of creating comfortable, durable, locally produced clothing basics. One day, while perusing her elementary school graduation album, she made up her mind. As a young girl, she had dreamed of being a fashion designer—so why not go for it now?
The rest of the story is right here before your eyes! Welcome to Adada!
